PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Annual flushing of the village's water hydrants will begin June 25 and is expected to continue until June 29, said department of public works superintendent Jeff Econom. Flushing will occur overnight from midnight to 2 a.m. to reduce the possibility of disruption for Pleasantville residents.
"The reason were doing the flushing at night is during the day when weve drained the water mains or flushed the water mains, we stir up some sediment in the pipes, so this gives the opportunity for the water and the sediment to settle out," Econom said. "Otherwise youd be getting brown and dirty water."
