PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Many food pantries, which help the hungry with canned goods and other shelf-stable items, usually don’t get a lot of donations of fresh fruits and vegetables.
But one Pleasantville charity, Hillside Food Outreach, has been able to deliver thousands of pounds of produce donated by farmers and others to the needy, according to a report in The Examiner News.
Now visitors to this weekend’s farmers market in Pleasantville will be able to help out as well, according to The Examiner News.
Thanks to the efforts of the Pleasantville Farmers Market, Pleasantville Community Garden, and Hillside Food Outreach, on Saturday, market patrons will be able to buy and donate fresh produce to the charity. Volunteers will help collect the fruits and veggies, the report said.
The farmers market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Memorial Plaza in Pleasantville.
