Pleasantville Announces Election Candidates

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Village of Pleasantville announced Wednesday the names that will be on the ballot for their upcoming Village Election.

Current Mayor Peter Scherer will run again for the same position in an unopposed race. Scherer will be running for a second consecutive term after originally being elected mayor of Pleasantville in March of 2009. Village Mayor serves three-year terms with no term limit.

There are also two positions on the Pleasantville Board of Trustees that are up for election this March with five candidates on the ballot. Incumbent trustees Jonathan Cunningham and Stephen Lopez will run again to retain their current positions on the board. Also on the ballot will be Kevin Martin, George Dolce and Colleen Griffin Wagner. Voters will have the choice of two out of the five candidates. Trustees serve three-year terms with no term limit.

Candidates for the Pleasantville Board of Trustees and Village Mayor do not hold any national political party affiliation. Only residents of Pleasantville who are registered with the Westchester County Board of Elections are eligible to vote. The last day to register for this year’s election is March 9.

The Village Election will be held on March 20 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Hall on Wheeler Avenue.
