Crossword Tournament Supports Pleasantville Schools

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – This Friday, avid crossword puzzle solvers will have the chance to put their skills to the test, all for a good cause at the 15th annual Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament.

The tournament will be held at the Westchester Table Tennis Center in Pleasantville. All proceeds raised will go directly to the Pleasantville Fund for Learning, a not-for-profit organization that supports teachers, students and programs within the Pleasantville school.

The tournament will consist of unpublished puzzles from the New York Times created by the times' crossword editor and Pleasantville resident, Will Shortz. He is also the owner of the Westchester Table Tennis Center.

Contestants may participate in the tournament individually or with a partner. Trophies and prizes will be given out in multiple categories that include best overall, 25 years and under, 60 years or over, Pleasantville resident and first-year participants.

Coffee and baked goods will be provided courtesy of the members of Pleasantville Fund for Learning.

The event is set to begin on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Registration is $30 or an individual and $45 for a pair. Those interested can register at the Village Bookstore in Pleasantville, by mail, or at the door. For more information, visit the Westchester Table Tennis Center's website.
