Fairfield County Tops In Connecticut Population Gains

Fairfield County led the state in having population gains, according to numbers released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The federal population count found that Connecticut gained 499 new residents between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017. 

Fairfield County’s population gained 730 people for a total of 949,921.

Since 2010, Fairfield County enjoyed a 3.6 percent population gain with 33,075 new residents, the Census found.

Of Connecticut’s eight counties, three - Litchfield, Hartford and New London - lost population. 

Hartford is the only other county that has seen a population growth since 2010 with a 0.2 percent increase.
