The restaurant has three locations: Elmsford, Bronxville and Pleasantville.
A'Mangiare, which means "to eat," in Italian, has a menu that carries the staples of Italian cuisine: freshly made pastas, pizzas, salads, sandwiches, meats and seafood. However, it is served with unique taste and flair that one would expect at a Manhattan restaurant.
Luigi Dolgetta, from Mount Pleasant, is the owner of the restaurants. He opened the first A'Mangiare in Bronxville 17 years ago - though his family has been in the restaurant business for nearly 60 years.
"I was 13 years old when I came from Italy in 1963," Dolgetta said, "I always wanted to go into the business, even though I left it for a few years to work at a company."
Dolgetta's wife and son oversee the Bronxville and Elmsford locations.
"We've been pretty popular since we've been here for so long," Dolgetta said, "People come back here all the time."
The interior of the Pleasantville restaurant embodies rustic Italian, accented by sharp, dark colors that give it a contemporary feel.
Each day a new menu is printed with revolving lunch and dinner specials, ensuring the food on the table is made fresh.
A special of note is the fettuccine, served with zucchini, tomatoes, and gaeta olives in a garlic oil topped with feta cheese ($7.95)
Pizza is the true specialty of A'Mangiare. Its locations serve more than 25 specialty pies, along with the standard build-your-own.
The Chicken Bianco pizza is topped with chicken, scallions, chopped tomato and portobello mushrooms in a white cream sauce ($11-20).
The Cajun Shrimp Pizza is topped with shrimp sauteed with scallions, roasted peppers and mozzarella, and seasoned with Cajun spices ($13-22).
Fresh bread is baked on site twice a day.
A full bar is also available, with wine from Italy, California and South America, along with a wide selection of beer and spirits.
A'Mangiare also holds parties and caters, along with online ordering, all day delivery, take out, and outdoor seating.
A Mangiare is located at 59 Marble Avenue in Pleasantville, 121 East Main Street in Elmsford and 26 Palmer Avenue in Bronxville.
