PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.  – Pace University will host a day of fun, film and food on Saturday, Dec. 7, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its Pleasantville campus.

The one-day film festival, which is free and open to the public, will feature iconic movies from the 1960s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s. Titles will include “Willy Wonka,” “Mary Poppins,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “Jurassic Park,” “Life of Pi,” “Lilies of the Field,” “The Social Network,” “Wall Street” and “When Harry Met Sally.” The films were chosen because they are emblematic of their time and for their influence and social impact in their decade. After the showing of “The Social Network,” there will be a panel discussion with Pace faculty about the impact of the film and social media on society. The films will be shown from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Kessel Student Center, Lienhard Hall and Miller Hall, 861 Bedford Road, entrance 3, in Pleasantville. That will be followed by a free gala reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Gottesman room of the Kessel Student Center. Black tie is not required, but guests can dress in retro garb from decades past, walk down a red carpet and take photos with cardboard cutouts of famous actors. The event is being planned, curated and run by graduate students from the Media, Communications, and Visual Arts program and sponsored by the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace. The film festival also features the premiere of a student-produced documentary on the history of Pace University in Pleasantville. Families are welcome. Seating for the films is limited and on a first come, first served basis. RSVP for the gala is required: For an updated schedule of panel discussions and film screenings, visit For more 50th anniversary events at Pace, visit
