PELHAM, N.Y. The residents of Pelham were pleased with the swift snow removal by the Department of Public Works (DPW) on Saturday. As soon as the snowstorm struck, trucks were salting the roads. Once the snow accumulated, workers were shoveling the sidewalks and plows were taking care of the snow on the road.
Richie Bell, who normally gets up around 4 a.m., was grateful to see the crews working early on Saturday.
I get up, and I cant stay in bed, so I go out, said the owner of Village Wine and Liquors. They were out there (at 4:00 a.m.). The first truck went down the street. Then more later on. Theyve always got that main street.
Bell, a longtime Pelham resident, commended their hard work.
They did a good job, Bell said. They were out early. They do a good job as far as Im concerned.
Michelle Pactol, owner of Richards Passport, appreciated the towns efforts in removing the snow as quickly as they did.
They did a good job. Very quick, said Pactol, who removed the snow from her Fifth Avenue storefront. Each store has to do on their front. I did it.
James Paul, a Klein Pharmacy pharmacist, has been living in Pelham since 1958 and has always had faith in the DPW.
Very well, exemplary, Paul said when asked how well he thought the DPW did with snow removal. Ive been living here a long time and theyve always done a good job.
