Residents of a home in Westchester had to be evacuated after a used rag pile spontaneously combusted in their residence, starting a fire. The incident happened on Saturday, March 4, around 1:45 p.m., when a Port Chester police officer on patrol noticed smoke coming out of the second story of a house on Olivia Street. Mother, Son Lose Everything In Westchester House Fire: Here's How To Help
A mother and son lost who lost all of their belongings in a Westchester County house fire are now seeking help from the community in rebuilding their lives. The blaze happened on Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, around 6:40 p.m., when firefighters responded to a two-and-a-half-story home in Port Chester on Soundview Street that had caught on fire, according to the Port Chester Fire Department. Five Cats Killed In Westchester House Fire
Five cats were killed in a Northern Westchester house fire that is believed to have started in the kitchen, according to firefighters. Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Maple Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday and found the house in flames, with no one at home, the department said. Due to a coordinated, aggressive interior fire attack, the fire was held to the kitchen and a second-floor room, and the neighboring house was saved but did sustain some damage from the radiant heat, the department said.
