Projected Accumulations For Nor'easter Increase Again; Gusty Winds Could Cause Power Outages

A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain combined with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour could cause power outages during the height of the Nor'easter, which is projected to result in higher accumulations than earlier predictions. A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the entire region until 10 p.m. Thursday. State Police Make Arrest In Upstate Limo Crash That Killed 20

The operator of the limousine company involved in the horrific weekend crash that resulted in 20 fatalities in upstate New York over the weekend has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide, state police announced at a Wednesday afternoon press conference. Nauman Hussain, the son of owner Shahed Hussain of Prestige Limousine in Saratoga County, was taken in custody during what police called a controlled traffic stop on I-787 near Albany. Students Set Rally Over Repaving Of Westchester Road
A group of students in Greenburgh has organized a rally to encourage state officials to repave the pothole-riddled Saw Mill River Road. More than two dozen student interns will host the rally next week in an effort to get a new surface on one of Westchester’s more bumpy and dangerous roadways. Local residents have been invited to join the students at the event. The rally is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2 at Macy Park in Ardsley. Man Killed After Car Crashes Into House In Hudson Valley Police Chase
A 35-year-old man was killed while attempting to escape police after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into an unoccupied house.According to Middletown Police, the incident took place around 12:53 a.m. Thursday when an officer saw a black 2000 Lexus GS 300 commit a traffic infraction in the area of Cottage Street and Railroad Avenue, the department said in a release. Westchester Man Nabbed In Hit-And-Run Incident Involving Juvenile
Two people, including a Westchester man, were arrested in a pair of separate hit-and-run incidents involving pedestrians in Greenwich, police said. The first incident took place on Friday when police responded to South Water Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a grey Acura sedan, said Greenwich PD Lt. David Nemecek. When officers arrived they found that a person had struck a juvenile while he was backing in the roadway and then fled the scene, Nemecek. The juvenile was not seriously injured, he said. Police Issue Safety Reminders After Deer Crashes Through Woman's Windshield
A female motorist had a very scary moment when a deer crashed through the windshield of her car in Fairfield County on Friday morning, June 8, state police said. The incident occurred on Route 8 in Trumbull when the deer ran onto the highway in front of the car shown above as the woman was driving southbound near exit 8. After the deer was struck, it went through the windshield into the car. Luckily the operator was able to keep control of her car and pull to the right shoulder, police said. Law enforcement agencies up and down the east coast are teaming to protect motorists on I-95 as part of the National Drive to Save Lives Campaign.
