Those who drink big during the big game could find themselves in big trouble if they drink and drive, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned. The governor announced that New York State Police is teaming with local law enforcement agencies during Super Bowl weekend to crack down on impaired and reckless drivers. Police nationwide are concerned that a Google Maps feature that shows their real-time locations around the world could end up seriously injuring or killing civilians – or them. Expect Delays: Hutch Double-Lane Closures Scheduled Through End Of Week
There will be double lane closures on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester for several days as contractors perform maintenance work in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert warning that the parkway will see double lane closures southbound between exit 23 (Mamaroneck Road) and exit 19 (Wilmot Road) in Scarsdale and New Rochelle. Greenburgh Police Chief To Become Chief Criminal Investigator For Westchester DA
There’s going to be a new sheriff in town, as longtime Greenburgh Police Chief Chris McNerney plans to pursue new opportunities in law enforcement in Westchester County. McNerney advised the Greenburgh Town Board that he intends to retire from the Greenburgh Police Department as of Sunday, Aug. 25, as he takes a job with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office as their Chief Criminal Investigator. With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, AAA is cautioning that the holiday kicked off the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers on area roadways. We all know the dangers of drowsy driving, but a new study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, a nonprofit research and education association, has shown that the hour or two of sleep you missed last night could have a bigger impact on your crash risk than previously thought. A 28-year-old former high school football player was killed while helping victims of a crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway. Jaquan Cesar, a Beacon resident and Poughkeepsie High School graduate, was killed around 1:15 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash on the expressway near Webster Avenue, said the NYPD.
