Winter Is Here: New Rochelle Opens Up Outdoor Skating On Ponds, Lakes NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department is looking to make the most of the recent arctic temperatures, inviting local residents to go skating on some of the city’s frozen lakes. Following extensive inspections of the conditions, officials deemed that several New Rochelle lakes and ponds are open to the public until the temperatures break - which may not be for more than a week.
