New Info Released: Shooting Of CT 20-Year-Old Who Tried Entering Wrong Home Deemed Justifiable Officials in South Carolina have deemed the shooting death of a Connecticut college student justifiable after he attempted to enter the wrong home. New Haven County resident Nick Donofrio, age 20, of Madison, was found dead having suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body, on the front porch of a home in Columbia, South Carolina on the 500 block of South Holly Street around 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, the city's police department said. Joshua Goodart, a cybersecurity and networks major in the University of New Haven’s Class of 2021, died over the weekend from COVID complications, the school announced this week. Goodart, who was a resident of Oxford, Connecticut in western New Haven County, became ill during the university’s Winter Break and was hospitalized last month, never returning to campus for the spring semester. New Tornado Touchdown Confirmed In Region, Bringing Total To Three A new tornado touchdown from severe storm activity in the region on Thursday, Aug. 27 has been confirmed. The National Weather Service announced on Sunday, Aug. 30 that an  Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF) 0 twister touched down in Kent, Connecticut, near the Dutchess County border in Litchfield County, at 3:31 p.m. Thursday. An EF-0 twister, with winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour, is the weakest of six types of twisters. (See the scale at the bottom of this page.)
