A famed NBC sports broadcaster, born and raised in New York, is being called a hero after he apparently saved a restaurant-goer’s life, according to a new report.
Long Island native Bob Costas, the legendary commentator and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee from Commack, became a hero when he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a fellow diner at a restaurant, an exclusive report by Page Six claims.

Paul Silas, 3-Time NBA Champion Player/Coach Who Lived In Westchester, Dies
Former NBA player and coach Paul Silas who lived in Northern Westchester for a period of his life has died.
Silas died on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the age of 79, according to a tweet by the Houston Rockets, where Silas' son Stephen, is the team's head coach.
The cause of death was cardiac arrest, his daughter, Paula Silas-Guy, told The New York Times.
The Silas family lived in the town of Lewisboro hamlet of Waccabuc while Paul Silas was an assistant coach with the New York Knicks from 1989 to 1992 and New Jersey Nets from 1992 to 1995.

Queens native Kevin J. Breen, who grew up in Connecticut and lived in New York's Hudson Valley, died Tuesday, April 5.
He was raised in Fairfield County, in the town of Ridgefield, and was a resident of the village of Montebello, in Rockland County, NY, for the last 18 years, according to his obituary posted by Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield, which is handling his arrangements.

During his latest COVID-19 briefing on Monday, April 19 in Manhattan, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that capacity would be increased for the state’s museums, zoos, movie theaters, and large indoor arenas.

David Stern, a longtime Westchester resident who built the NBA into a powerhouse during his 30 years as commissioner, has died, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 1.
The 77-year-old Stern, of Scarsdale, had been hospitalized following surgery in December after he suffered a brain hemorrhage at a Manhattan restaurant. He was surrounded by his wife, Dianne, and family at the time of his death, the league said.
