Authorities are searching for a suspect who shot a public works employee in Westchester while they were collecting garbage. The incident happened on Friday, July 7 just before 8:30 a.m., when Mount Vernon Police responded to the area of 50 North Terrace Ave. for a reported shooting, according to Mount Vernon Director of Communications Timothy Allen. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - With winter weather expected to return to the area in the coming days, the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works is prioritizing pothole repairs in an effort to alleviate the stress of city drivers. Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas announced on Tuesday that the DPW was set to emphasize repairs on city streets, with five crews scheduled to be dispatched over the next 48 hours to combat pesky potholes with a hot asphalt mix.
