A victim from Northern Westchester had to take several precautionary measures including canceling her credit cards after a scammer was able to remotely access her computer, police said. Scammers sought to take advantage of a Hudson Valley woman through an elaborate Amazon scheme. A Hudson Valley woman said that she received a call last week that was a recording from “Amazon” claiming that her account had been used to make a $760 purchase of a laptop. Apple Store, Support Fake Calls Among Scams Making Rounds In Westchester
A Westchester resident told Daily Voice that she received three calls on Thursday, May 17 purporting to be from Apple.Inc with the phone number of the Apple store in the Westchester Mall, which is still under construction.
