The seven-day rolling positive infection rate for New Yorkers being tested for COVID-19 is at its lowest in several months as the state, and Hudson Valley, continue recovering from the holiday wave of new infections.
Statewide, the positive infection rate is at 2.80 percent, the lowest since mid-November, while there are 823 COVID-19 patients in ICU, and 504 intubated with the virus, both the lowest in New York since early December.

The positive COVID-19 infection rate in the Hudson Valley rose for the fifth straight day, as the number of newly confirmed cases topped 1,000 for the first time this week.
According to the state Department of Health, the average seven-day COVID-19 infection rate rose in the Hudson Valley for the fifth straight day, up from 4.49 percent on Friday, March 12 to 4.67 percent on Tuesday, March 16, the highest rate in the state, ahead of Long Island (4.50 percent), and New York City (4.18 percent).

Despite seeing nearly 2,000 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Hudson Valley, the overall positive infection rate in the region continues to drop after spiking earlier this month following the holiday season.
In the Hudson Valley, the positive infection rate dipped from 7.13 percent on Monday, Jan. 18 to 7.0 percent the following day, down to 6.98 percent on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and 6.91 percent on Thursday, Jan. 21.

More than 1,100 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Westchester, which saw a dozen new virus-related deaths, according to health officials.
The county is now monitoring 11,395 active COVID-19 cases, up from 11,321 the day before, when there were 725 new infections reported.
Late last week, there were less than 10,000 active cases under investigation.

The Westchester Department of Health is now monitoring nearly 8,500 active COVID-19 cases as the virus continues spreading throughout the county.
As of Thursday, Dec. 10, there are 8,408 (250 new) active COVID-19 cases in Westchester, County Executive George Latimer said during his latest COVID-19 briefing. That number is up from 7,830 on Monday, Dec. 7.
