Weekend Ferry Service Between Westchester, Rockland Off To Great Start With Increased Ridership Months after the launch of a weekend ferry service between Westchester and Rockland counties, ridership is only going up, officials announced.  Since weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry was started in May, ridership numbers have continued to climb each month, MTA officials announced on Wednesday, July 31.  According to the MTA, ridership in July reached an average of 455 trips a day on the weekend compared to 240 trips a day in May. Rockland County Launches Free TOR Ferry Weekend Connection Bus Weekend travelers will now have the opportunity to take a TOR ferry connection bus beginning this weekend to explore different parts of the Hudson Valley and New York City, free of charge. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Department of Public Transportation said that the service will begin on Saturday, July 6, and run through Nov. 10. The bus service will provide connecting transit service for Metro-North Hudson Line customers who travel to Haverstraw via the Haverstraw-Ossining weekend ferry, enabling them to travel beyond the Ferry Landing via public transit, officials said.
