Three Serious Crashes Occur In Peekskill In 24-Hour Span
While most of the country was spending Memorial Day Weekend celebrating the holiday, first responders in Peekskill were busy, responding to several serious accidents in a 24-hour span. Members of the Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps. and Cortlandt-Peekskill Regional Paramedics and Peekskill Fire Department were dispatched to Welcher Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25, where there was a report of a rollover crash. Pickup Truck Bursts Into Flames After Crash At I-684/Saw Mill Junction
This story has been updated. Smoke was sent billowing through the air when a pickup truck became fully engulfed in flames at the merger of I-684 and the Saw Mill River Parkway on Thursday morning. First responders were dispatched at approximately 11 a.m. to I-684, at the Saw Mill River Parkway juncture near exit 43 in Katonah, where there was a multi-vehicle crash that left one car in flames near the guardrail of the southbound lanes. Westchester District Attorney Ends Bail For Most Misdemeanors
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Calling it "discriminatory", Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said his office will no longer seek bail in most misdemeanor cases.Scarpino said the move was done to promote fairness and end unnecessary incarceration for impoverished defendants.
