Trapped Driver Freed From Car After Crash On Sprain Brook Parkway In Westchester Firefighters had to cut the doors off of a car following a crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Westchester. The crash happened on Saturday, Dec. 21 on the northbound Sprain Book Parkway in the Greenville area of Greenburgh near Jackson Avenue, the Hartsdale Fire Department announced.  Following the collision, firefighters extricated a driver from one of the vehicles, cutting doors off to do so.  More information about the crash was not immediately available.

Car Goes Up In Flames Near Parkway In Westchester A vehicle blaze near a parkway in Northern Westchester sent a column of smoke into the air before it was put out by firefighters.  The fire happened in Yorktown on Sunday morning, Aug. 25, when a vehicle was consumed by flames on Underhill Avenue near its crossing with the Taconic State Parkway, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews were soon able to extinguish the blaze, the department said.  No injuries were reported.

Deer Pulled From Mud In Dramatic New Rochelle Rescue Despite being faced with an unusual situation, firefighters pulled off the successful rescue of a young deer that became stuck in mud in a Westchester pond.  The rescue happened in New Rochelle on Thursday, July 11, when firefighters responded to reports of a stuck deer near Pryer Manor Road.  After around an hour, firefighters were able to remove the deer from the mud in Mill Pond and reunite it with a deer believed to be its mother who had been watching from a distance.  New Rochelle Firefighters

Car Damaged By Fire On Busy Parkway In Westchester A car fire prompted a large response from firefighters on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester. The blaze happened on Tuesday, June 25 around 5 p.m., when a car caught on fire on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Millwood, according to the Millwood Fire Department. Fire crews soon arrived at the scene and found the burning car on the parkway's shoulder. The blaze was put out after around 45 minutes, the department said. No injuries were reported. The department did not give details on the cause of the fire.
