A school district in Westchester has announced that a retired former superintendent with over 40 years of experience will be filling in for its current leader, who is out on medical leave. A longtime educator in Northern Westchester announced she will be stepping down at the end of the year after a four-decade career in education. Pleasantville Union Free School District Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter announced this week that she will be retiring at the end of the calendar year in December following a 40-year career, 31 of which were spent with the district. The Irvington Union Free School District Board of Education has officially appointed the new principal of Irvington High School. Juliet Gevargis-Mizimakoski was appointed at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 18 and will begin her new position in July, according to Kristopher Harrison, Superintendent of Schools. The Tuckahoe Board of Education has announced the appointment of former Chappaqua School District educator Gregory Stiefel as the newest principal at the middle school. He had previously served 10 years as an assistant principal at the Seven Bridges Middle School. Stiefel will take the helm officially on Aug. 27, replacing Mark Barnett, who will complete his assignment on Aug. 15.
