Woman Injured In Hit-Run At Westchester ShopRite Parking Lot
A woman was injured after being struck by a vehicle in a supermarket parking lot in Westchester County, with police now searching for the driver, authorities said. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 26 at the ShopRite supermarket parking lot at 278 Tuckahoe Rd. in Yonkers, according to Yonkers Police Sgt. Robert Spink. The elderly victim, who was walking through the parking lot, was hit by a vehicle that was backing up, Spink said. 3 Rushed To Westchester Medical Center After House Fire
Three people were rescued from a burning Hudson Valley home and hospitalized, firefighters said. The blaze happened in Putnam County on Tuesday, Nov. 5 just after midnight, when flames went up on a home's porch in the Lake Secor area of Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Arriving fire crews soon realized three people were still inside the residence and quickly went inside to remove them. Man Struck, Killed By SUV Was Inspecting Car After Minor Crash In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A man who was involved in a minor crash on the New York Thruway was killed when he stepped out of his vehicle to inspect the damage and was struck by a 2018 Ford SUV. Saul Clark, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, had gotten out of his vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-87 in West Nyack when he was struck by the passing SUV driven by a Nyack woman just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said. A 69-year-old man from the Hudson Valley was injured in an explosion inside a school district maintenance building in Westchester that also caused a small fire. The incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 13 just before 1:20 p.m., when an oil tank explosion was reported at a Mamaroneck School District maintenance building and garage at 119 Gertrude Ave., according to Lt. A person was rescued from the water after they were found clinging to a kayak in a Hudson Valley pond. The rescue happened in Putnam County at around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, when a forest ranger with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation saw a person in the water while patrolling White Pond in the town of Kent. A beloved firefighter, baseball coach, and Navy veteran from Northern Westchester is being remembered for his longstanding dedication to helping his community. Banksville resident Preston Pratley died on Monday, May 27 at the age of 79, according to his obituary. Born in 1944, Pratley was born in Greenwich and later moved to Banksville after marrying his wife, Geraldine Kerslake, in May 1968. Person Struck, Killed By Metro-North New Haven Line Train
A 50-year-old man was struck and killed by a Metro-North train Thursday night near Darien. According to Metro-North officials, the incident took place around 7:35 p.m. Dec. 13 at Noroton Heights. The train had departed Grand Central at 6:49 p.m. headed for New Haven. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification is pending notification of next of kin. More Than Half Of NYers Personally Touched By Opioid Abuse, Poll Finds
Nearly one of every four New Yorkers personally know of someone, a family member, friend or acquaintance that has died due to an opioid overdose, according to a new Siena College poll.
