Pelham Youth Rugby Elementary Flag Team Wins NYC Cup

PELHAM, N.Y. - The Pelham Youth Rugby elementary flag team took home the Cup Division championship at Saturday's New York City Cup.

Pelham has had success in the NYC Cup tournament, having won it twice, finished second twice and come in third last year. The event is the largest flag tournament in North America with more than 75 teams participating. The Pelham middle school team was knocked out in the semi finals.

Peter Monaco was Most Valuable Player for the elementary team and Luke Persanis was MVP for the day for the middle school squad.

The Pelham elementary team won three consecutive games in the final round victories to win the Cup.
