Preservationists Offer $22K For Pelham High School Parking Lot Plans

PELHAM, N.Y. – Members of the Pelham School Board recently discussed several plans for completing the repair of the Corlies parking lot at Pelham High School after the Pelham Preservation Society offered to donate $22,000 to the district, the district said on its website.

The society's donation will be made so that plans for the lot can include more green space and trees, according to the school district.

"I am confident that we will be able to come to a resolution which addresses the addition of green space to the design while also maintaining the practical functionality of the parking lot," Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo said.  "The open dialogue with the Pelham Preservation Society is a good example of how collaboration leads to a good outcome.  We are also profoundly grateful for its financial contributions."

The design options for the lot can be viewed online.

In addition to this discussion, the board also re-elected Lisa Kiernan as president and elected Will Cavanagh as vice president for the 2013-14 school year.

The board also inducted newly elected Tom Imperato and re-elected Kiernan and Peggy O’Leary, the district said.
