NYPD trainers John Walker and Liam Swords are alleged to have spent five hours drinking with Cronin and two other officers at the Alehouse in City Island after a day of training in high-intensity traffic stops, according to lohud.com.
Later that night, April 29, 2014, the victims, New Rochelle residents Joe Felice and Robert Borrelli, were returning home from a recreational ice hockey game when Cronin approached their car and opened fire with a 9mm automatic handgun.
Felice was shot six times and seriously wounded, according to lohud.com, which reported that Borrelli, who was not injured, then drove his friend to the hospital.
Cronin, who faced felony counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault, pleaded guilty to the charges last year and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
