Thank You For Coming to Office Hours

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Daily Pelham extends a special thank you to Nelly Mendez for coming to Friday's office hours at the M.A.D. Café. Mendez came to pick up her prize for winning last week's "Where is This in Pelham?" photo contest.

Mendez sat down to chat about the town and pointed out a tree on Seventh Avenue that is more than 200 years old. Keep an eye out for a photo of this tree on our website soon.

Mendez was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but she has lived in Pelham for eight years and works in the southern part of the Bronx. Her children graduated from Pelham Memorial High School. Her daughter, who attends Berkeley College in White Plains, still lives with her.

She shared a story about the safety of Pelham. She drove to DeCicco Food Market with her grandson asleep in the car. When she parked, she noticed one person leave his or her car window rolled down and another who left the car running as he or she went into the store.

"That's part of the peace of mind that Pelham brings you," Mendez said. "It was a very good feeling."
