Televisions Allegedly Stolen From Home Basement

PELHAM, N.Y. – A Pelham man had several items, including two televisions, allegedly stolen from the basement of his apartment building.

The man told police he has been in the process of moving for a month and that his landlord allowed him to leave his belongings in the basement until he found a place to store them, according to the police report.

The last time he saw his items was three to four weeks ago. He returned Monday to remove his items and noticed that his 52-inch Sony television, a table, an iHome clock radio and a smaller television were missing. All other property was still there.

The man called the landlord, who arrived and told police that he did allow the man to leave his items in the basement and that he, too, had not seen the belongings in three to four weeks. He told officers that all tenants have a key to the basement to allow access to the laundry machines.

The landlord could not immediately recall the names and phone numbers of those tenants, though the police report said he should have them later.

Officers found no pry marks or damage to the door to the basement. Police knocked on the door of all the rented apartments but nobody else was home.
