PELHAM, N.Y. A Pelham woman is missing almost $2,000 in jewelry after it was allegedly taken from her home.
The woman told police on Tuesday that she was missing a sapphire and diamond ring on a gold band, worth approximately $1,600, and a gold band ring with a single stone, worth approximately $300, according to the police report.
The woman said she fired a babysitter on Oct. 21 because of her behavior and the way she used the money given to her for food and the children. She thinks the babysitter might be responsible because she knocked over the womans jewelry case a few weeks ago and had access to the home.
She also said that she had to change the locks at her home because the babysitters keys have yet to be found. The woman told police she only wants the jewelry returned.

Police searched the area but found no one. Officers found no pry marks or exterior damage to the mail slot door during a followup investigation. Police planned to check with the mail carrier about the damage.
