Pelham Party Leaders Anticipate Tuesday's Election

PELHAM, N.Y. – The leaders of both the Democratic and Republican Parties in Pelham have spent months promoting their town justice candidates. The fruits of their labor will culminate during Tuesday’s general election.

Richie Bell, head of the Republican Party, will be making phone calls and assisting voters throughout the day. Bell said he was pleased with the campaigning of Republican candidates Stephen Huff and John De Chiaro and had high hopes for the election.

“We think the Republican Party is going to sweep,” Bell said. “I think our people did what they should do.”

Bell added that everyone in Pelham should vote in the election.

Democratic Party co-chair Ed Doty said he does not know how the election will unfold but is hopeful that both George Bischof and Mercedes Maldonado will be elected. Doty has also been promoting his people and the election as a whole.

“We’ve been working very hard to remind people about the election and the importance of the town justice seats,” Doty said.

Doty and others called voters and spoke to them at the train station to emphasize the importance of voting. He said he expects a reasonable turnout at Tuesday’s election.

“In a democracy, it’s important for people to be voting whenever they can,” Doty said.

Doty said he and the Democrats will “hopefully be having a victory party” after the election.
