Pelham Manor Public Works Employee Harassed

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – A Pelham Manor Department of Public Works employee told police that a co-worker grabbed him and slapped his face last week at work.

The man told police that his co-worker opened the door of their garbage truck, grabbed him, started to yell at him and then slapped him the face on June 30. He told police he hesitated to report the incident for fear of repercussion from his co-workers, though he ultimately decided to say something because he had been receiving threatening calls on his cell phone.

The calls involved an ongoing issue regarding allegations that the man has not shared tips with his co-workers. A caller known as "Big John" left a voicemail on the man's cell phone saying that his co-workers were going to get him for stealing tips and warned the man not to go to work Tuesday.

Police said in the report that they will speak to the village administrator about the case.

Also on the blotter:

Police responded to a woman's call at Siwanoy Elementary School Saturday. The woman said she had picked up her son 10 minutes earlier and her son told her that he saw 10 teenagers smoking marijuana and spray painting the doors of the school. The teenagers were gone when police arrived but officers saw the doors and grounds near the playground spray painted. They told the custodian, who said he would send someone to inspect the damage later.
