Pelham Manor Police Help Intoxicated Woman in Cab

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Pelham Manor police helped an intoxicated woman in the back of a cab early Sunday morning after she fainted.

Police received a call at 1:36 a.m. Sunday about an unresponsive woman in the back of a cab in front of her house. The driver said he picked up the woman in New Rochelle and she passed out at some point during the ride but continued breathing.

Officers tried to wake her but failed. The car had a strong smell of alcohol, according to the police report. Medics eventually woke up the woman.

She told police that she came from a party and "was on her way to another bar." Officers told her she was in front of her home.

The woman continued to be belligerent and a bit combative toward the officers and insisted that she should be allowed to go home and go to sleep. The woman slurred her words and appeared disoriented and intoxicated, according to the police report.

Officers told her brother that she would be taken to Sound Shore Medical Center. He said that he had no idea where his parents went for the night.

Police could not contact her parents and took the woman to Sound Shore Medical Center for evaluation.
