Pelham Gearing Up for Sunday's Giants-49ers Game

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – While eager Pelham residents are getting ready for the NFC championship game between the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Modells is reaping the rewards.

“The [Giants] products are moving fast,” said Edgar Cordero, general manager of the Pelham Manor Modells. “Every day, we’re getting new merchandize into the store. Giant fans are loving it, we’re loving it. To see the excitement of the fans coming in and stuff like that, it’s definitely good.”

Cordero was quick to point out which three player’s products contributed most to the increase in sales, especially one star receiver in particular.

“Mr. Cruz, Manning, and Pierre-Paul are hot tickets right now,” he stated. “We have an exclusive shirt here for Modell’s. A t-shirt of Mr. Cruz. Customers are liking this. Exclusive at Modell’s only. It’s a good item. It’s been selling very well.”

He was confident that the Giants (11-7) could beat the 49ers (14-3) at Candlestick Park to advance to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.

“When they win [on Sunday], we’ll be open Monday morning at 6:00,” Cordero said. “We’ll have all the championship merchandise and everything. Hopefully, it could be a repeat of [Super Bowl] 42 or 2000. Either way, I think it’s gonna be good for the fans. The fans are gonna love it.”

Dave Katz, owner of The Depot Market and a diehard Giants fan, cannot wait for Sunday to arrive.

“I’ll be at my house with my family, my good luck charms, and I’ll be praying to the football gods for a Giant victory,” he stated. “I’m hoping the football gods will be watching over the New York Football Giants. 17-15 Giants.”

Rockwells will be full for the Patriots and Ravens game in addition to the Giants game, according to manager, Dwight Findlay.

“Yes, we are [busy],” he said. “Usually, pretty good. Pretty decent. We have fans for both games, especially for the Ravens. We have a lot of Ravens fans.”
