The Mount Vernon Fire Department donated this white Ford Expedition to Pelham Fire Chief William Stone. At the Village of Pelham Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday night, Mayor Ed Hotchkiss said the board worried that Stone's previous vehicle would not make it to work every day.
The Mount Vernon firefighters had already used the SUV, as a fire department vehicle, so few changes need to be made to it.
Lt. Julian Keiser said he is unsure if Chief Stone will paint any words or logos on the SUV.
"Some people prefer it to be incognito," Keiser said.
The car has 95,000 miles on it and is worth approximately $3,800 according to the board.
