Pelham Constable Secures Parade for First Time

Rob Glynn’s first year working as a constable for the Pelham Police Department was a responsibility he enjoyed.

"It's gone very smoothly," Glynn said. "We're just making sure the environment is good."

The parade took the spotlight Monday while stores on Fifth Avenue closed in honor of the holiday. Covered meters on the town's main street prevented parking along the parade route.

Stores like the M.A.D. Café on Wolfs Lane and salons along Fifth Avenue that normally would have a stream of customers closed and locked their doors. The parade marched by the crowded streets in front of the empty stores instead.

Those who drove to the parade parked on side streets including First Street, site of the Pelham Metro-North Train Station, and set up camp along Fifth Avenue to enjoy the parade.

Sheriffs directed traffic along Fifth Avenue and the surrounding streets to keep the parade flowing smoothly and limit congestion.
