Pelham Salon Owner Has Clients from Three States

PELHAM, N.Y. – Pat O'Malley opened Pat's Hair Salon on Wolfs Lane in Pelham in 1998. Today she serves customers from as far away as New Jersey and Long Island.

"They love it here," O'Malley said. "They feel like they're at home. And I have the best clientele."

O'Malley has worked at hair salons in Pelham for 30 years. She decided to stake out on her own and open her own shop to fulfill a longtime dream.

"I had a large clientele and I love what I do," O'Malley said. "It was always my passion and dream to have my own salon."

After more than a decade of business, O'Malley now receives clients from upper Westchester, New York City, New Jersey, Long Island and Connecticut.

The range of service at her salon has helped broaden the appeal. While Pat's Hair Salon does not off nail services, customers can receive eyelash extensions, Brazilian blowouts and Japanese straightening.

The arrival of summer presents somewhat of a challenge to Pat's Hair Salon because business slows as people go away on vacation. O'Malley said January and August are the worst months for business because people pay their credit card bills from Christmas in January and take vacations in August.

Still, O'Malley does not close her salon and simply prepares for the slowdown.

And when the customers do come in, O'Malley has one goal in mind.

"I want them to feel good about themselves," O'Malley said. "That's my job. If they're not happy, I don't let them leave."
