PELHAM, N.Y. -- Sendhil Ramamurthy, the actor best known for his role as geneticist Mohinder Suresh on NBC's "Heroes" and from USA Network's "Covert Affairs" as Jai Wilcox, is a tennis buff at heart. So much so that until a high school injury prevented him from pursuing the sport further many years ago, he once considered going pro.

"In hindsight, I realize I was a good player, but not a great player," he said in a Q & A following his newest role as Sid Sharma in the independent film, "Brahmin Bulls."

The movie, about an estranged father and son whose cautious reunion is threatened by the return of a woman from their past, was recently previewed at the Pelham Picture House where the New Rochelle resident spoke about tennis -- the role was tailored to him and so includes many court shots -- as well as the film-making process (he's a producer), along with how it was working with such esteemed actors as well-known Brit Roshan Seth, Academy Award-winner Mary Steenburgen, and Justin Bartha of "The Hangover" series fame.

"What I love about the film is that it mirrors real life," said Ramamurthy. "It's all about how difficult relationships can be and how it's worth going through hard things to evolve and grow."

As for his relationship with his own dad? "It's good," he said. "Nothing like the movie."
