PELHAM, N.Y. -- Pelham Art Center will be a vibrant part of ArtsFest 2014, a one-day two-town art adventure on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in New Rochelle and Pelham.

The day will be packed with art-related activities at Pelham Art Center (PAC), in two locations.

First, walk across the street from the art center to The Storefront Project where patrons can view a pop-up art exhibition in the windows of the empty storefront: Outside-In, a group exhibition with each artist’s work occupying a window space presenting three unique perspectives on landscape, and running through Friday, Oct. 17.

A companion show will be on view in the PAC courtyard titled Stuffscapes, a six person outdoor exhibition with sculptures made from diverse materials such as cast metal, repurposed wood and found objects.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. watch Stuffscapes artists present Pelham Art Center’s first Hot Metal Pour in the courtyard. Learn how some of the sculptures were fabricated by observing the metal casting process.

For a $20 materials fee, visitors can make their own metal-pour sculptures by carving molds, and then watch the artists pour the liquid metal into their molds right there – and then take them home! The show, on view through Saturday, Dec. 20, demonstrates commitment to material engagement while exploring a dialog of personal and cultural significance of the sculptural object.

Natural Enemies will be on display in the gallery. This group exhibition explores conflicts in human nature and the prevailing ideologies that influence and motivate human existence on an emotional and intellectual level. To round out the afternoon, Lois Colin will conduct the Westchester Harp Ensemble at noon. The historic trolley will only be used to give a drive-by overview of all that the Artsfest of Pelham and New Rochelle has to offer.
