Digital Calendar Service Adds Carpool Schedules For Westchester Parents

PELHAM, N.Y. – Burbio, the one-stop online calendar service that allows Westchester County families to synchronize their schedules with events in the community, is once again making life easier for parents with the launch of a carpool scheduling feature.

The new carpool feature will make Burbio an even bigger help for Westchester County parents.

On Tuesday, Pelham natives and co-founders Dennis and Julie Roche announced that Burbio will now allow users to include their carpooling schedule so that parents know when, where and who will be driving their kids to their various appointments, activities and sports games.

Carpool schedules can be set up on the main calendar page on Burbio. Users simply have to insert driver emails, and who is driving when. Whoever is due to lead the carpool will receive a notification, with every member of the carpool capable of altering the schedule.

“We created Burbio to make it easier to organize groups and events. As we continue our growth, we are excited to add an easy carpool creation feature,” Julie Roche said. “Carpools can be hard to keep track of when there are a lot of changes flying around in texts or emails.”

Burbio takes thousands of community calendars, sanitation schedules and organizational events and allows users to automatically upload them onto a calendar, which can then be shared with the entire family. A beta version was released in Pelham two years ago, and it’s overwhelming success led to a rapid expansion throughout Westchester.

“Our mantra at Burbio is, ‘what used to be stressful is now simple and easy,” Julie Roche noted. “We got consistent feedback from Burbio users that they needed help with managing carpools and that they wanted to see if Burbio could provide it."

“Many of our users are carpooling their kids back and forth from the activities whose schedules are already on Burbio, so we believe this will be a benefit.”

Currently, PTA groups, church organizations, local sports squads, schools, libraries and government offices in every Westchester municipality have schedules that can be uploaded on the free-to-use calendar. While Burbio is still fresh locally, Roche said she hopes to possibly expand into Fairfield County, Long Island and New Jersey eventually.

“It’s growing like gangbusters, we’re getting hundreds of new users every week,” she said. “We initially focused on eight to 10 ZIP codes, but now we’re in more than 50 all over Westchester. We’re starting to saturate through the county, and the goal is to continue that.”
