Over 100 Sex Offenders To Be Kept Off Westchester Streets On Halloween: Must Attend Program
In order to help ensure trick-or-treaters' safety on Halloween night, more than 100 sex offenders in Westchester will be required to attend an educational program to keep them off the streets. The program, which will be mandatory for over 100 registered and non-registered sex offenders on probation in Westchester, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Westchester County Courthouse. The 23-year-old man who is accused of killing a 2-year-old girl in Westchester made an appearance in court. Derren Morris, of Mount Vernon, made an appearance at the Westchester County Courthouse on Monday, after pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault at a previous appearance in 2017. While children are tricking and treating throughout Westchester, area sex offenders on probation will be off the streets this Halloween. More than 150 registered and non-registered sex offenders on probation in Westchester and Putnam counties have received special “invitations,” requiring them to attend an educational anti-sexual abuse victim impact program. Man Enters Plea To New Charges In Westchester Crash That Killed Teen
The driver of a BMW that crashed in Yonkers last year, killing his teenage passenger, has pleaded not guilty to new charges related to the fatal crash. Renzo Yance, 21, appeared at the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains on Tuesday after recently being indicted on charges that include felony counts of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
