A police chief in upstate New York is criticizing the court system after two men accused of possessing untraceable “ghost guns” were released without bail following a traffic stop. The Albany County incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, when Watervliet Police stopped a vehicle for alleged traffic law violations. A Danbury man is facing a weapons charge after being busted by New York State Police troopers with an illegal firearm during a traffic stop on I-84 in Putnam County. Investigators announced this week that troopers stopped 46-year-old Esmelyn Hernandez’s Chevrolet Impala for a violation of vehicle and traffic laws on I-84 in Southeast. A Westchester man is facing a weapons charge after being busted playing with an illegal knife at a Panera Bread in Yorktown over the weekend. Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to Panera Bread at the Triangle Shopping Center shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, where there were reports of a person playing with a knife.
