Teen Killed After Car Hits Tree, Bursts Into Flames In Mahopac, Police Say An 18-year-old Mahopac teen was killed during a crash in which his vehicle struck a pine tree and then the car burst into flames. John Rossetti, 18, was killed around 11:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, when his gray Honda Civic struck the tree on Woodbine Drive, came to rest on its passenger side, and then the engine block and tree burst into flames, said Carmel Police Lt. Video: Woman Escapes Injury After Flames Explode From Car In Area Things got dangerous for a driver who received a shock when her car suddenly burst in flames in Orange County. The woman driving on Clove Road just off of Route 208 in South Blooming Grove told officials that she smelled smoke shortly after making the turn onto the roadway shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Her Toyota Camry then proceeded to stall out and flames burst through the hood of the car. The woman was able to escape the blaze unscathed, and firefighters were called to the scene.
