Longtime Officer Promoted Chief Of Town of Poughkeepsie Police
Longtime Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin P. Faber has been promoted to police chief.
Faber joined the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department in 1991, bringing with him a background in engineering and mathematics, said Capt. Michael O'Dowd.
He succeeds Ronald J. Spero, Jr., who was chief from May 20, 2015, to Aug. 30.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy and a former member of the U.S. Navy Reserve, Faber is certified in firearms, defensive tactics, general topics instruction and accident reconstruction, O'Dowd said.

Target Employee Arrested For Stealing $4K, Police Say
An employee was arrested for allegedly ripping off more than $4,000 from a Target store in the area.
Stephen F. Garcia, 18, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 4 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 3, following an investigation, said Capt. Michael O’Dowd, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
According to O'Dowd, police were called to the store at 2001 South Road (Route 9) were store officials told police that Garcia had allegedly stole more than $4,000 over a three-week period.
Garcia was charged with felony grand larceny and released on his own recognizance, O'Dowd said.
