Woman's Body Found Floating In Hudson River A woman's body was discovered floating in the Hudson River. The unidentified woman was found in Dutchess County around 10 a.m., Monday, April 10 near the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the city of Poughkeepsie. Sheriff's deputies responded to the area after receiving a report of a possible body in the river near the Mid-Hudson Bridge, said Capt. John Watterson, of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Ulster County resident Crystal Thomas, age 33, of Highland, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 4, said the town of Lloyd Police. According to Chief James Janso, of the town of Lloyd, Thomas allowed her juvenile child to get a large permanent ink tattoo on his body at a hotel in Lloyd. In Ulster County, Town of Lloyd Police said  there have been over a half dozen reports of flowers being stolen from graves at Highland Cemetery, located on Vineyard Avenue. “Lloyd Police has been in contact with the Highland Cemetery Association and the families to let them know the police department will do everything possible to find those responsible for these deplorable acts and hold them accountable,” the department said in a statement. Poughkeepsie Woman Forged, Cashed Checks Worth $6K From Employer Over Six Months, Police Say A 46-year-old area woman was arrested for stealing more than $6,000  from her employee. Sonya R. Cooper of Poughkeepsie was arrested Friday, Oct. 12 following an investigation by the Town of Lloyd Police, said Lt. James Janso. Cooper, who was charged with felony grand larceny and felony forgery, is accused of forging and cashing checks in excess of more than $6,000 from an 82-year-old Highland woman over the course of the six months she was employed as a home health aide, Janso said. Cooper was released following arraignment and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 18.

Jollie of Milton was traveling south around 5:30 p.m. Friday, on Route 9W when her car left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, Town of Lloyd Police Lt. James Janso said. Jollie, who was the sole occupant in the car was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Janso said. Poughkeepsie Man Nabbed For Domestic Violence Assault A Poughkeepsie man was nabbed after more than a year for a domestic violence assault in which he never turned up in court. Reginald Alston, 51, was arrested Friday, May 4, on a bench warrant for third-degree assault, said Town of Lloyd Police Lt. James Janso. Alston was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $500 cash bail or $2,000 insurance bond, he said. He is due to appear in court on Thursday.
