On Saturday, Nov. 27, state police in Dutchess County launched an investigation into a fatal crash on State Route 9G in the Town of Rhinebeck. According to police, the initial investigation determined that Hyde Park resident Jared Hammerling, age 29, was driving a 1997 Honda Civic northbound on Route 9G south of Slate Quarry Road when he crossed over the double yellow line and struck a 2018 Subaru Outback head-on. Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Area, Police Say Dutchess County Sheriff's officers are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Rhinebeck. The incident took place around 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the intersection of White Schoolhouse Road and Slate Quarry Road, Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said. As of 430 p.m., police had blocked off Slate Quarry Road between Wurtemburg Road and White Schoolhouse Road, to conduct an investigation, Watterson said. Road Reopens After Fatal Crash In Dutchess A Clinton Corners man has been identified as the person killed in a two-vehicle crash that entrapped one person and closed Slate Quarry Road for hours. The crash, between a 2014 Hond CRV and a 2004 International propane truck, occurred around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday resulting in the death of Francis J. Scelta, 77, of Clinton Corners, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Watterson. Road Reopens After Fatal Crash In Dutchess Update: Slate Quarry Road in the Town of Rhinebeck reopened in both directions early Wednesday night after an ongoing hazmat cleanup after a serious motor vehicle crash. Those traveling through that area were advised to use caution and allow for extra time, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said. The crash occurred in the afternoon, and was a fatality involving a propane truck and a passenger vehicle.
