An investigation was launched by State Police in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, Dec. 31, following a commercial burglary at Fireside Barbecue & Grill on Salt Point Turnpike in Pleasant Valley. Construction On Salt Point Turnpike Bridge Over Wappinger Creek Starts The construction project on Salt Point Turnpike Bridge over Wappinger Creek is officially underway as of Tuesday, April 16, the New York State Department of Transportation says. The $3.2 million project is intended to improve safety and mobility. It will replace the bridge over Wappinger Creek in the hamlet of Salt Point, Town of Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County. The project includes a complete bridge replacement as well as an adjacent culvert. The new bridge will be equipped with metabolized steel girders with a cast-in-place bridge deck. Area Man Sentenced To Decades In Prison For Girlfriend's Murder A Town of Poughkeepsie man was sentenced to 23 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend at the Pleasant Valley Trout and Game Club, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Rosario Curcio, 71, was charged with the murder of Lana Florio, 56, also of the Town of Poughkeepsie after deputies responded to the club on Salt Point Turnpike Oct. 3, in response to a report of a shooting, said Capt.
