Covid-19: Popular Cafe In Area Permanently Closes A popular cafe and bakery in the area has become the latest victim of the COVID-19 pandemic and has shuttered its doors for good. The owners of Sweet Obsessions on Route 376 in Poughkeepsie announced that they were closing for good this week as of Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Seven Westchester County Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops New York State Police troopers busted nearly two dozen local motorists who were allegedly driving while impaired in the area over the past week. The local residents charged were: Dutchess County On Friday, Jan. 11, State Police troopers from Rhinebeck arrested Gerard V. Ollis, 43, of Poughkeepsie, for DWAI Drugs. He was traveling on Route 9 in Rhinebeck, when he was struck a mailbox and then left the scene. Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Being Hit By SUV On Route 376 A 47-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a compact SUV in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The crash took place around 8:08 p.m. Wednesday on Route 376 (New Hackensack Road) near Cedar Valley Road when a 46-year-old Poughkeepsie resident driving a 2012 Honda CR-V, struck the Poughkeepsie resident, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Brian Wagner.  The bicyclist sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Wagner said.
