Woman Wanted For NY Murder Of Conrad Gowan: Police
Suffolk County Police announced on Monday, Aug. 4, that a woman is wanted for the murder of a Jamesport man killed inside his home last year, police announced on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025.
Majorie Quarrie, also known as Nicola Watson, stabbed 36-year-old Conrad Gowan in the neck at his residence on Herricks Lane at 11:43 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, according to the Suffolk County Homicide Squad and as Daily Voice previously reported.
Gowan, a resident of the home, was transported by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead.

An anesthesiologist faces charges after allegedly giving anesthesia to a victim without her knowledge and sexually assaulting her, police announced.
Putnam County resident Paul Giacopelli of Southeast, age 59, was interviewed and arrested on Saturday, Dec. 30 on sexual abuse charges, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
According to authorities, on Friday, Dec. 29, the Sheriff's Office was told that a female victim known to Giacopelli had been given anesthesia without her knowledge and was then sexually assaulted.

Former Mets second baseman Wally Backman, now manager of the Long Island Ducks professional baseball club, was arrested following a fight with a woman on Long Island, police said.
Officers responded to a call of a domestic dispute around 7:45 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, said the Riverhead Police.

Area Man Admits To Illegally Selling Sharks
An area man who was arrested in March for having live sharks in his basement has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Joshua Seguine, 38, of Lagrangeville, admitted Friday, July 12, to keeping live Sandbar sharts, a protected species, and attempting to sell them over the internet, said New York Attorney General Letitia James and Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos.
According to the felony complaint, Seguine came to the attention of DEC Law Enforcement in July of 2017, after he was found in possession of five undersized sharks in the back of his truck.
