Cops ID Colgate Student From Westchester Found Dead In Upstate NY River (Update) A 21-year-old Colgate University student from Westchester County who was found dead after his kayak overturned in an Upstate New York river has been identified by authorities. Sohail A. Nabi, of Yonkers, was found dead Monday, May 11, in the Schroon River in Warrensburg, New York State Police confirmed.  The incident began just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, when troopers responded to the area of Library Avenue following reports of an overturned kayak in the river.  Investigators later determined Nabi had been kayaking with a small group of people when they lost sight of him. Driver Rescued After Vehicle Plunges Into Hudson River In Westchester Emergency crews rushed to the scene late Wednesday night, July 9, after a vehicle drove into the water where the Croton and Hudson Rivers meet in Westchester, according to fire officials.  The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Wednesday at the Echo Canoe Launch in Croton-on-Hudson, the village’s fire department said on Thursday morning, July 10.  First responders arrived to find a vehicle submerged in the river. Weekend Ferry Service Between Ossining, Rockland Off To Great Start With Increased Ridership Months after the launch of a weekend ferry service between Westchester and Rockland counties, ridership is only going up, officials announced.  Since weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry was started in May, ridership numbers have continued to climb each month, MTA officials announced on Wednesday, July 31.  According to the MTA, ridership in July reached an average of 455 trips a day on the weekend compared to 240 trips a day in May.
