Man Nabbed For Making, Selling Guns From Home In Area, Authorities Say A Hudson Valley man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into the alleged manufacture, sale, and possession of illegal firearms. Putnam Sheriff 'Clears The Air' After Phone Call Recording With Carmel Supervisor Released Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. is looking to “clear the air” after a recording of a telephone call he had with Carmel Town Supervisor Ken Schmitt was released to the public. In September, the recording between the two elected officials was leaked by a Putnam County Watchdog Group regarding Schmitt possibly joining the “Langley Administration” at the end of the year. The audio - taken some time in August - also included Schmitt backing Langley and expressing support for him in the upcoming November election against challenger Kevin McConville after previously backing the latter. …

Hours-Long Standoff Ends In Suicide In Area A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23,  when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. The medic unit was first on scene and was confronted by a man with a shotgun.  Recognizing the severity of the situation, the medic retreated to safety, while notifying Putnam 911 of the situation, Langley said.
