A Hudson Valley community is up in arms after an alleged racist incident at a high school basketball game involving students. On Wednesday, Feb. 9 Pearl River High School was hosting the Nyack High School boy’s basketball game when video showed Pearl River fans making monkey noises as Black players for the opposing team shot free throws. Former Area HS Sports Standout Dies At Age 54
A former high school sports standout in the area who went on to play at the collegiate level has died at age 54. Christopher Peter Sennas was a 1985 graduate of Nyack High School, where he earned All-County and All-Conference honors in lacrosse. He graduated from Roanoke College in 1989 where he was a four-year member of the men’s lacrosse team and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He died on Monday, May 24, following "a brief and valiant fight with cancer," according to his obituary. He was surrounded by family and friends. Following college, Chris pursued his passion…

Concern over the potential for exposure to measles in Rockland County, where a state of emergency is in effect, has caused at least one school district to request a change of venue for a sporting event. There is no shortage of Hudson Valley high schools that are among the best for athletes in New York, according to a new list released by Niche.com.
